Introducing Instagram Notes, a feature that allows you to share short updates at the top of your friends’ and mutual followers’ Instagram inboxes. Similar to Stories, these notes disappear after 24 hours, offering a quick and temporary way to connect with your audience. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use Instagram Notes:

What Are Instagram Notes?

Instagram Notes are brief updates visible at the top of a user’s inbox, featuring text, emojis, or even video and music. Unlike Stories, Notes are shorter and have a distinct section in the app. They are exclusively shared with mutual followers or those on your Close Friends list.

How to Get Instagram Notes

Ensure your Instagram app is up-to-date, as the Notes feature rolled out in 2022. Note that this feature is exclusively available on the Instagram mobile app, not on the website.

How to Create a Note on Instagram

  1. Open Instagram and navigate to your message inbox using the paper plane icon.
  2. Spot the caption box on your profile picture at the top with the text “Note…”; tap on it.
  3. Enter your update in the text box. For video notes, click on the camera icon; for added flair, select the music note icon.
  4. Choose your audience: Followers you follow back or Close friends. Tap Done.
  5. Once ready, tap Share at the top, and your status will display alongside notes from mutual followers.

The process is straightforward, but ensure you share only with a trusted audience. Replies to your Note will appear as direct messages in your inbox.

How to Delete or Change an Instagram Note

Made a mistake? No worries. If you need to delete a Note, tap on your profile picture in the inbox and select Delete Note. Alternatively, add a new note using the “Leave a New Note” option to replace the old one, and it will expire after 24 hours.

Now you’re equipped to share Instagram Notes – remember to use them wisely and share with care, as your notes will only be visible to mutual followers or friends who check their Instagram inboxes.
