Upgrade Your MacOS
Operating System updates are very important. With each update there comes improvements, bug fixes and security patches. MacOS releases updates every year, so you should try to update every time.

Free Up Space

Go to system preferences > Users & Groups and select the account name in the left sidebar.
Click Login Items.
Select the apps you do not need at startup.
Remove them by clicking the minus(-) button
Delete Extra Widgets.
There can be some widgets which are not really necessary, you must delete them. Unnecessary widgets also consume the resources and make your mac slow.
Click on the date or time in the top-right corner of screen and go to the notification center.
Select on the edit at the bottom.
Remove the unnecessary widgets by clicking on the minus(-) button.
